How do I know if I am eligible to vote in the 18th Assembly District Special Primary Election?

You must be registered to vote in the 18th Assembly District to vote in the Special Election on August 31, 2021. However, California has same-day voting registration meaning you can register all the way through election day!

To check if you reside in the 18th District, you can use the following search link to enter your address. All eligible voters will receive a Vote by Mail ballot.

When will I receive my ballot?

Ballots are being sent out to every registered voter on August 2nd. If you did not receive a ballot by the end of the week – you can request a new ballot here before August 24th!

How do I vote early?

There are three ways to vote early! 

I’m not registered to vote, can I still cast a ballot?

You have till August 16th to register to vote – check your status hereIf you missed this deadline, no worries! You can register to vote in-person using CA’s same-day voter registration system at any polling location.

Note: You will be casting a conditional ballot, meaning that it will take several days after the election for your vote to be counted.

When are polling places open to vote in person?

Accessible voting locations are open: 

  • Saturday, August 28th, 2021 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Sunday, August 29th, 2021 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Monday, August 30th, 2021 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 – Election Day 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM

  • Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 – Election Day 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Can I vote at any polling place?

No, you can only vote at your assigned polling place OR one of the three accessible voting locations!

However, if you have your ballot, you can drop it off at any polling location. 

What do I do if I lost my vote by mail ballot?

Visit 1225 Fallon St, the Alameda County Registrar of Voters office to receive a new ballot all the way up until Election Day! 

Or visit your polling place and vote in-person, no ballot – no problem!

When is the last day to mail in my ballot?

You must have your ballot postmarked on or before Election Day (August 31st), and no postage is required. However, they must be received by the Alameda county elections office no later than 17 Days after Election Day.

I forgot to sign my ballot! What do I do?

Sign up here to track your ballot – if there are any problems, the county will contact you to ensure everything is correct.

How late can I drop off my ballot to the Official 24-Hour Ballot Drop Boxes in Alameda, Oakland, or San Leandro?

On Election day, August 31, 2021, you will have until 8:00 pm to drop your ballot off at an Official 24-Hour Ballot Drop Box.
